“Anchorman” actor David Koechner was arrested earlier this month for suspected drunk driving during a traffic stop as he was traveling from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International AirportIt happened on June 4 around 1:56 am in Lawrence County, according to records and body camera WLWT obtained by public records request from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. In the body camera video, a trooper approaches another trooper who states he pulled Koechner over for a couple of lane violations and noticed he had glossy eyes and could smell alcohol. The trooper states Koechner was from California but going to Comic-Con in West Virginia . Koechner told troopers he was coming from Cincinnati.”I know who you are,” the trooper states when he notices who Koechner is. Troopers then asked Koechner how much he had been drinking. “How much we had to drink tonight?” the trooper asked”One,” Koechner responded.”One beer or one shot of liquor or what?” the trooper responded.”One beer,” Koechner said. The trooper asked Koechner to step out to see if he was safe to drive. Troopers then had Koechner go through a series of field sobriety tests before arresting him for suspected drunk driving. Koechner was issued a ticket for OVI and ordered to appear in court in Lawrence County. The trooper asked Koechner if he had been arrested for OVI before, to which Koechner responded yes, that he was arrested in December 2021 in California. David Koechner is an actor and comedian best known for his roles in the Anchorman movies as Champ Kind and on NBC’s The Office as Todd Packer.
